Today's Goal - start this Blog!

In the absence of clearly defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it. ~ Robert Heinlein
Heinlein is one of my favorite SciFi writers. I was introduced to his work via my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Horn, who read Between Planets to the class.  I was hooked on Heinlein, reading and grokking Stranger in a Strange Land soon after its publication (yes, I'm dating myself!)
Heinlein was a superb storyteller and a keen observer of what makes us "tick."  He was a meta-physician cloaked in the guise of a sci-fi writer.
Why am I starting my blog with this particular Heinlein quote?  To me, this wisdom imparts a profound, solid foundation for accomplishing anything, including attaining an ideal weight.
With this in mind, my husband and I sat down one day & asked ourselves what we could do to shed those extra pounds that had accumulated over the years.  He's 65 & I'm 58.  This weight loss thing had been on our minds (& bodies) for several months and for several reason, so we did have a goal.
Yet, we realized that this goal wasn't clearly defined.  This was evident as we kept packing on more pounds.  Were enslaved to our daily "trivia" of food consumption
Perhaps we needed to clarify and fine tune this one, grand, goal into several more definitive, concise goals.  So began the journey of how we both shed 20 lbs. in 2 months - naturally and safely, no drugs, no iron-man exercise programs - just using the inner wisdom inherent to our mind, body, and spirit.
